FAQs

A few questions you might be wondering, and more ....

Do I need to attend class(es) with my child?

Yes. Classes at Ananda are for both you and your child, as this is a place for practice and learning for both of you.

What do I need to bring to class?

Yourself, your child, and any personal belongings that may be of need, such as diapers, a change of clothes. There are bins for your child to place extra clothes, if you choose to do so. Extra toys are not needed and can wait in your vehicle until after class.

Bringing along a notebook is helpful, for you to write your observations, or questions that may rise up within you.

Do I need to bring snacks or water for my child?

Nutritious snacks, such as fruits or vegetables that are prepared by adults or children, are always available, as is water. If you need to bring another snack for dietary or nutritional reasons, you certainly can. Snack time does not often happen as a group, but when a child is hungry. This is a process, of which you will receive guidance, and other children and adults will model this experience. Food preparation is a part of what we call Practical Life in Montessori, and this happens during snack time.

When foods are introduced as part of a lesson, then we will have a group snack, or during certain celebrations.

What will I be doing in class with my child? How should I prepare?

We often feel that much is asked of us as parents in ways of doing, acting, behaving. At Ananda this is a space where you are invited to bring your curiosity and wonder, and experience ways of being which may be new for you.

You will be within a community of other parents, grandparents and caregivers who are on their unique journeys of learning. You will receive sensitive guidance and have the chance to observe your child or children as they explore on their own and with one another. You may notice that your pace of life slows down as you settle within an environment that is welcoming, empowering, and inspiring.

What you experience in class will stay within you, extending to your home and within your family.

Is support for parents offered outside of class(es)?

Yes. On the fourth Monday of each month there is an Adult Group from 6 - 7:30 pm at Ananda Montessori. This is for adults only, though infants are always welcomed.

During this time we bring focus to different topics on parenting, child development, Montessori principles, observation, and much more, in a supportive environment prepared just for you.

There is no extra cost for Adult Group, as this is included in your tuition.

Do you offer additional hours for children without their parents in attendance?

Yes, in addition to attending class with their parent, other days and times are available for Drop-Off with Pam, also called Lunch Bunch.
