Week 2: Preparation of the Environment, 2/3

      Welcome to Week Two!

This week centers around the environment (both our inner and outer) and is one we will explore further. During this week you will view, practice, and reflect on the following:
      • Words by Maria Montessori on an environment from the perspective of the Child
      • An article on Observation and Freedom, which I would like you to read and from now throughout the course, to reflect on and bring into your own practice of Montessori. Whether you are presently teaching or out in your world, with family, adults or children...there are opportunities to bring these invitations for study into practice. I would ask that you reflect on these in your Observation Journal or notebook. At the end of the course I will ask to see your reflections as part of your course work.
      • You will have opportunity to view a video on a prepared environment for the Child
      • As well, you will have an experiential practice that will be directed, and a listening reflection on Montessori
      • Please remember to work on your Checklist; add to this, write down any thoughts or questions you might have

        Week 3: Interacting with Parents/Caregivers, 2/10

        Welcome to Week Three!

The focus of this week will be on the environment from the parent's perspective, of which we are a part. So we will bring focus to our own inner observations, as we continue to explore how to interact with parents.
Our week will include some of the following:
        • A writing by Maria Montessori
        • Handouts which can be used in a variety of ways
        • A video on An Environment for the Adult
        • Reflections for you to complete in your notebook or Album, which are mentioned in the comments
        • Observation; of the external and internal
        • A listening reflection/contemplation
        • Also, please go back to your checklist from Week One and work with it. As we are moving through the course I would like you to look at where you started, what you have worked on in relation to your individual goals, and bring these to our next Zoom meeting. You may also place these in the comments if you are unable to attend. This checklist, by the end of Week six, will be sent to me to see how you are doing.
