Ananda Montessori Daily Routine
Ananda Montessori Daily (fluid) Schedule
• Greeted by Pamela, greeting one another
• Entering the environment, removing shoes, socks, in season, hanging up sweaters or coats. The children do as much as they can and are assisted only as needed.
• Children begin exploring as they wish. Parent may choose to prepare coffee or tea at any time.
• Observation by parents for at least 10 minutes, though usually more, in their Observation Journals
• Pamela observes as well and records in a notebook, while also assisting children if needed
• Parents/caregivers, observe Pamela’s interactions with the children
• Lessons may be given to the children, depending on the age of class
• Children are interacting with parents, but given space to explore
• The child’s work may include going to the refrigerator to choose a food to prepare, or a fruit to juice. Snack can be individual or sitting together and sharing. In a 90-minute class this naturally occurs about an hour into class. The children are never interrupted, if working, for
any reason, to gather together as a group. The timing follows the rhythm of the Child.
• We may meet to sing or dance; do yoga, play games, movement activities
• Pamela will step in and guide/mentor parents or caregivers as needed
• Close to the 90-minute ending of class, parents/caregivers will model returning materials to the shelves. The children will join in as they choose or can
• Those leaving from 90-minute class will move to the entrance they came in, gather their things, and meet Pamela to say goodbye
• The children who may be staying longer continue to work in a seamless way, until it is time for them to go. They may help with dishwashing, cleaning, or be concentrating until their two-hour class is complete
• These children are each met by Pamela to say goodbye, as are the adults
